| Creating a Character Generally, characters from the original series, as in manga and show, are not allowed. The same goes for characters that are an obvious imitation of canon characters. Or generally characters from series and shows. Getting inspiration is okay, but not simply taking a complete carboncopy off some role. This will be judged on discretion of the team member working on your application. Your application gets to have it's own thread in Character Applications with the Character name for a title. The first post should contain the character sheet, filled out with your character's information. You'll find the blank sheet with explanations in the next post. All characters must be humans, with only one exception. Minor animal traits like ears and tails (e.G. catgirl) are allowed, as long as it is only a cosmetic feature with no advantages over others. And only as long as the vast majority of the characters appearance stays human. Furthermore, all characters origins must be within the known world of HxH. Fill out every point of your character sheet. Even if the character doesn't know their last name or parts of their history for example, they needs to be listed. Because the information could be relevant for the RP at some point and it makes your character less one-dimensional. This goes for every part of your character sheet. Try to not just describe your character image under 'Appearance & Clothing' but maybe also what kind and style of clothes or hairdo they like. Explain personality traits, where they come from and what effects they have on the character. Also try to balance your strengths and weaknesses. The more strengths your character has, that are useful in combat, the more weaknesses that are detrimental to it they need to have as well. Your history should at least be about 500 words and not have too large gaps or time skips in it that are not explained. Ideally, it also explains how your character became who they are as far as their personality traits and such goes. Remember that you are just starting your adventure with your start in the RP, so try to keep your character's abilities and achievements reasonable for the fact that they are still more or less beginners when you start playing. The image if your character should not be too large, but also not too small. Try to at least be around 400x400 pixels in dimensions. Team members can assist you with re-sizing if you find it difficult to make your image fit into the post. Additionally, try to find an image that shows a decent amount of the character, at least a portrait or bust format, ideally even more of their body and overall impression. If you are having trouble finding an appropriate image, team members or anyone else can possibly help you out. The same goes for the origin of the character, if you don't know, another member might. Lastly, provide us with a sample of your posting style. This can be anything from an old post of yours to something you made up just then. It can, but does not have to relate to the character you are trying to make or HxH. |

| Stat SheetThe second post in your character's application should be your stat sheet. This sheet is used to keep track of your character's attributes, Nen mastery, learned techniques and obtained items. On character creation, this sheet remains largely unchanged from the template below. Initially all you have to do is pick a native Nen type and a theme for your Nen. According with your chosen native Nen, you will have to spend your first, free Nen Rank point on it and change the appropriate Nen type's rank to 1. Nen Ability Rules explain Nen and Mastery in more detail, as well as how Nen Themes work. Attributes are at their starting values already. You are given starting EXP to raise attributes, master Nen and learn techniques after approval. Read to learn about all kinds of EXP spending respectively. For more details on how to obtain items, please check the rules for items. | Attributes Health: Represents the amount of damage a character can take before passing out or dying. Aura: Represents the total Aura amount of a character's. If this reaches 0 the character passes out. Usable Aura: Represents the amount of Aura usable in one post. Using Aura means losing Aura, each use of Aura tires the user and 10% of the used Aura is lost. The other 90% return to the total Aura pool. Strength: Represents the base physical strength of a character. Precision: Represents the precision of movements and eye-hand coordination. Resilience: Represents how much damage a character can ignore. Speed: Represents the base speed of a character. All attributes can be enhanced with Usable Aura, at a rate of 1:1. An Attribute may not be more than doubled like this. Each Attribute has ranks that can be used to understand how much the amount in points mean in it, in theory the list goes on after the 10th rank. 10 - Rank 1 – Fit 20 - Rank 2 40 - Rank 3 80 - Rank 4 160 - Rank 5 320 - Rank 6 – Max Normal Human NPC 640 - Rank 7 1280 - Rank 8 2660 - Rank 9 5320 - Rank 10 – Godly - Strength:
Rank 1: The character is in physically fit condition, and is capable of the same things as someone with a toned physique. Against someone in equally fit condition, the physical attacks of a character with this rank generally result in mild bruises.
Rank 2: The character has achieved an impressive level of strength, and has a similar level of strength as someone who developed their musculature through hard labor. They are generally capable of dealing heavy bruises and even fractured bones against a frailer opponent.
Rank 3: The character has grown to the level of a heavyweight boxer, capable of cracking skulls or breaking the bones of their less durable opponents. Punching through windows and putting dents in sheet metal are easy feats for characters of this rank.
Rank 4: The character is capable of the same feats as a championship weight lifter. At this rank, it is possible to lift and toss people of normal weight with ease, and flipping a car upside down would only take moderate effort. Their punches can deal serious damage to the environment as well as their enemies, and less resilient opponents might find their bones broken or crushed.
Rank 5: The character has reached a super-human level of strength, and their physical attacks devastate the bodies of normal people. At this rank, it is possible to wrench steel posts free from concrete or send people flying for several yards with a single punch. Characters are also able to wield weapons that would generally be considered too large for human use with little difficulty.
Rank 6: The character is able to complete feats of lower ranks with little effort, and their monstrous strength overwhelms that of the average human. Crushing a skull becomes as easy as breaking an egg, and it would be no surprise to see someone of this rank bench pressing automobiles and the like.
Rank 7: The character is immensely physically powerful, able to crush stone with their bare hands and leave small craters in the earth where their fist makes contact. A normal human would be lucky to be left alive from a single attack, and even steel plated armor would do little against an assault of their full strength.
Rank 8: The character is now a destructive force to be reckoned with, comparable with a human tank. Their punches pack the destructive force of a bomb, capable of launching people through brick walls and crushing their bones in the process. It takes incredible resilience to stand up to characters of this rank.
Rank 9: The character has nearly reached the pinnacle of strength and is only outclassed by a select few. Their sheer physical brawn is capable of bringing down entire buildings and bending solid steel with ease. At this rank, a character would be able to rip a normal human limb from limb without a second thought.
Rank 10: The character has reached the known limits of human capability. Their strength is comparable to that of large scale explosives and they can easily send objects flying for miles. Only the most durable materials and people can withstand the power achieved by characters of this rank.
- Precision:
Rank 1: The character is naturally proficient in most tasks requiring precision, and is generally competent with long range weaponry and hand eye coordination. Archers and marksmen can hit an unmoving target several meters away with nearly one hundred percent accuracy.
Rank 2: The character is quite skilled, and is adept at things requiring a steady hand. At this level, characters are generally able to hit moving targets without difficulty and would certainly be able to keep up in a competitive environment.
Rank 3: The character is able to hit targets at the level of a professional military combatant and their coordination is on par with that of a professional athlete. Weapons can be used at their maximum effective range, and a normal human would have extreme difficulty evading an attack from a character of this rank.
Rank 4: The character is on par with gold medal olympians in terms of precision. At this rank accounting for wind and other factors that might affect trajectory is second nature to the character, and it would be possible to hit targets as small as a cigarette from several dozen meters away.
Rank 5: The character has achieved a near superhuman level of precision, capable of accomplishing record breaking feats such as sniping targets from more than a kilometer away or with a pistol at a hundred meters. Even in poor conditions, their accuracy is top notch.
Rank 6: The character is capable of astounding feats at incredibly long ranges and has a level of coordination generally achieved only by years and years of intense training. Disarming opponents with long range attacks is easily achieved at this rank, and the character is precise enough to catch a gnat with a pair of chopsticks.
Rank 7: The character is adept at anything requiring precise movement to a superhuman extent, from ninja like acrobatics to making utterly impossible shots with relative reliability. At this level characters are capable of using their weapons at far greater accuracy than would normally be possible by a normal human.
Rank 8: The character is as accurate as a machine with unlimited processing power, and only the most quick and elusive opponents and creatures can escape their trained eyes. The range at which they can spot and strike targets is limited only by human sight and the capabilities of their weapon.
Rank 9: The character is almost unrivaled in marksmanship and precision, and even when faced with speeds they cannot comprehend they are generally competent enough to predict where their target will be. Characters of this rank are so precise they are capable of shooting an ant off of a french fry...while someone is eating it.
Rank 10: The character has reached the pinnacle of precision and accuracy, and is capable of performing feats that surpass rational thought. Snipers will be able to pick off targets from dozens of miles away, and with proper aim characters should have no trouble hitting opponent’s far out of their field of vision. The coordination with which they move their body allows for incredibly flexibility and robotic precision even in the most minute and sensitive conditions.
- Resilience:
Rank 1: The character is reasonably fit and has a slightly above average tolerance to pain. Attacks from particularly weak opponents will have little to no effect and characters of this rank are at least somewhat capable of taking hits.
Rank 2: The character is rather tough, and can take hits from even experienced fighters with little to no damage incurred. Those without above average physical brawn or any martial arts training will have difficulty damaging them.
Rank 3: The character is hardened enough to ignore most weaker attacks, and an average person would have great difficulty trying to fight them unarmed. Even improvised weaponry such as chairs and beer bottles generally have little effect on characters of this rank.
Rank 4: The character has gained extreme mental and physical fortitude, and their body is equivalent to one who has undergone years of training to increase the durability of their body and their tolerance for pain. It takes considerable force to deal any lasting damage to characters of this rank.
Rank 5: The character’s body has been strengthened immensely, and it is incredibly difficult to harm character’s of this rank without great skill or strength. Their incredibly resilient bodies are completely unaffected by attacks from normal people, and they are capable of withstanding multiple blows from even highly skilled martial artists with relative ease.
Rank 6: The character has achieved a superhuman level of resiliency, and blows that would easily kill a normal person are shrugged off easily. Being hit by a car or falling from a height of several stories are of no concern to characters of this rank.
Rank 7: The character’s flesh is like solid stone, and most weapons would have difficulty penetrating their skin. The majority of attacks will bounce off of their skin, and only highly skilled opponents will be able to pierce through the natural armor that character’s of this rank have developed.
Rank 8: The character can brush off incredible amounts of damage without difficulty, and feels little to no pain in even the most extreme situations. Characters of this rank are capable of withstanding the force of a missile at point blank range, and can fall from heights of several hundred meters without fear of harm.
Rank 9: The character is a pillar of resiliency, able to withstand some of the most powerful attacks without so much as breaking a sweat. To some, characters of this rank may appear to be invulnerable. Dealing damage to them requires incredible force, and only those of incredible strength and skill can even hope to triumph.
Rank 10: The character has reached the pinnacle of durability, and little short of a nuclear blast is enough to significantly damage characters of this rank. Even some of the most powerful techniques have little to no effect on their hardened body, and lesser blows glance off without a second thought.
- Speed:
Rank 1: The character is relatively quick on their feet and capable of running at the level of someone who exercises regularly.
Rank 2: The character is speedier than most, and able to rather easily outrun those of average physical ability.
Rank 3: The character is able to keep up with the ace of any school's track and field team. A untrained human will have trouble to keep pace for longer than a minute.
Rank 4: The character has reached the level of an Olympic Runner and could easily earn a few gold or silver medals in a competition.
Rank 5: The character has no problem moving faster or at least equally fast as even the hardest trained competition. Their movements become hard to see for an untrained eye.
Rank 6: The character has become so fast that their movements become incredible hard to predict for others and for a normal human it is impossible to keep up with them.
Rank 7: The character is as fast as most modes of transportation. They can out run a car, almost keep up with a train and run circles around their opponents.
Rank 8: The character is now a top runner even amongst the rarest beasts, famous for their speed. Their punches seem to come flying out of nowhere and only their own speed of thinking can limit them.
Rank 9: The character is nearly at the limit of possible speed before breaking the sound barrier. All their motions at top speed create after images because the spectators brain just can not keep up.
Rank 10: The character is not quite as fast as light, but impossible to follow with bare eyes. At this rank they may move small distances faster than any form of transportation and even cross longer distances often faster than by car.
More on Attributes and their effect can be found in the Combat Rules and the Item Rules.

| Experience points & Experience costs When your Character Application is approved and has been reposted in Character Sheets, you will get 100 free starting Experience points, or EXP. Which you can use to strengthen your Character by learning techniques, upgrading your stats or buying Nen Points. All these options come at differing costs which will be covered in this section. Character Attributes start at the default values of 100 for Health and Aura, 10 for all other Attributes and upgrade on a per-point basis at different exchange ratios as following: Health 1:1 Aura 1:1 Usable Aura 5:1 Other Attributes 2:1 So to obtain an additional Healthpoint, or HP, you have to pay one Experience point. The same is true for Aura. Usable Aura on the contrary, costs 5 EXP to increase by one point. All other, physical, Attributes increase by half of the Experience amount you paid to increase them. Purchasing additional Nen Points has an increasing cost that starts out at 10 EXP for your first point after the free Point from your application and increases by 10 EXP for each purchase. So your second purchased Nen Point would cost 20 EXP, the third would be 30 EXP and so on. The last use for Experience points is learning techniques. How much EXP you have to pay for a technique depends on it's and your Nen-Type. The further away from your native Nen the techniques Type is on the Nen-Hexagon, the more expensive it is to learn. You cannot learn techniques of Nen-Types you have not invested any Nen Points in. Native Nen: 15 EXP Neighbouring Nen: 30 EXP Second-grade Neighbouring Nen: 50 EXP Opposite Nen: 100 EXP Conjurer Object Technique: 15 EXP (one free technique for each object with 0% damage value) All of these purchases can be made simply by posting in the appropriate subforums and threads of the EXP Shop. You can obtain additional EXP after your initial starting gift simply by posting. Usually you will get 1 EXP for 1 in-RP post. Certain activities like Quests can reward larger amounts of EXP as part of their rewards.

| Updating your Character When your Character progresses and changes or learns new things it is often necessary to change the sheet representing the Character. You may do so at any time in the Character Sheets forum, but when you do any changes to your sheet you MUST post a note with the original passage and the now changed passage below your sheet to document your change. If your change required you to purchase an item or spend EXP please link to the topic where you did so. Any change done without any documentation will not become effective and if the staff notices such changes on a bigger scale you will be punished. |
