Basic Rules

Foreword

These rules apply to Hunter X Hunter RP and were enacted on Sunday, 5th July 2015. By joining our RPG and roleplaying with us, you automatically agree to these rules. Be aware that the rules may periodically change. All changes will be announced; however, it is ultimately your responsibility to remain abreast of any changes. Thank you for reading carefully!

Essentials

Roleplayers at HxHRP agree to respect their fellow roleplayers. Insulting, cursing, harassing, or otherwise attempting to or causing harm to another player will result in immediate and severe consequences.
Posting any kind of content that is in some form illegal or not compliant with the law (e.G. pornographic material, pirating & warez, racist or religious propaganda etc.) is disallowed and will be met with an indisputable, permanent ban from HxHRP, as well as we will inform the respective authorities if the infringement requires it.

Roleplayers agree that roleplay will follow the guidelines (as defined and outlined in the Roleplay Guide — including but not limited to avoiding powerplay, godmodding, and metagaming)

HxHRP has a rating of PG-13.
In-play postings have a word minimum of 150 Words. Proper grammar and spelling are required.

Joining

An application is required to join. You can place your application in the Character Applications Forum according to the Character Rules.
HxHRP considers itself an intermediate roleplaying game. As such, good spelling and grammar in your application are required. Refusal to work with the administration to fix application errors may result in a roleplayer being unwelcome to join.

Setting

HxHRP is set in the known Hunter x Hunter world, it is the year 2000. Characters should be appropriate to this setting in application and once roleplaying in the game as a part of good roleplay realism.
Players may participate in 1 thread involving combat and 1 thread not involving combat at any given, same time. Thread presence is limited to the current ingame location.

Characters

Roleplayers are limited to a maximum of two characters initially. More characters may be acquired only with explicit staff permission. All characters must have their own account.

Roleplaying Rules

1. Controlling other player's characters, so called godmodding, is forbidden without the other player's consent. However, other actions such as dismembering, immobilizing, incapacitating and killing are allowed under circumstances according to the respective rules.

2. As powerful as canon-characters may appear, one must remember that these are exceptions from the norm for the most part. Especially since players are usually just starting their journey with starting to play on these forums. Keeping an eye on the possibilities of your characters and using common sense as well as basic logic to determine events of all kinds is a given for balanced play.

3. What a player knows, a character does not necessarily. Just because you know the planned outcome of a scene or adventure, does not mean your character knows how to handle things best. Also, player conflicts are player conflicts and should not be carried into the character-play level, and vice versa character problems are not problems between players.

4. Actions have consequences. This applies to players and characters equally. Players breaking the rules will get punishment corresponding to the severety of their violation and possibly their "record of incidents". The same goes for characters, the game world has laws and practices, which result in ramifications when broken or ignored, like being wanted with a bounty for stealing and killing.

5. Due to the nature of not every location in the world being at the same spot and need to be traveled to, it is usually complicated to justify being in too many places with too many different people. Not only does it prove a chronological problem in general, it is also unrealistic to be in one place at a given moment and at a another place at the other side of the globe in the next.
So characters are only allowed to be in one location at a time, in up to 2 threads: One entirely social and one that may include combat of any kind. Switching locations requires appropriate travel.

6. The very much too visual description of certain scenes in game are not allowed. Certain scenes are, naturally, of overly and unnecessarily brutal or sexual nature. Insinuating and roughly menationing these things is fine. For further cases, use common sense. If you are unsure, it's probably bad.

7. Please inform everyone of absence if you happen to be absent. Firstly, so your comrades know what's going on when they wait for your replies. But also for the Team, so we know not to take action against inactive accounts. Otherwise occasional removal of inactive accounts occurs.

8. Hotlinking images should be avoided at all times. Please use imagehost-services like Imgur or whatever you can think off. If we (the team) see hotlinked images we will likely edit your post with a properly uploaded version of the image and remind you to remember in the future. Regardless: repeated happenings for a single person may result in a punishment.

9. Un-"licensed" multi-accounts (multiple characters) are not allowed and will be removed. Additional characters after your first two require permission by an Admin, based on your activity, conduct and quality of content.

Writing Guidelines

Minimum word count
An in-RP post should never fall short of 150 words, to preserve the target quality of our experience. While 150 words may sound like quite a number, with just the right angle to write things, this is reached very quickly. Even when there isn't much to actually do - sticking to that will propably help sharpen the attention and ability to make detailed descriptions and describe things more precise, literary and artsy.

Example
Quote :
Admin was walking down the busy streets of Yorknew city. He particularity enjoyed the the city and its people. Some might call them rude or distant, but to him they were all pleasant and interesting in their own way. There was the group of young boys that played soccer at the park near the hotel he was stating at almost every day, a few days they before they had almost hit him with a ball, after which he had joined them for a short game, ending it with a ten – zero score! Next on his walk he meet the man that was always standing in front of his store, giving every person walking by a mean stare, but as soon as you entered he turned into the most pleasing person Admin had ever met. He even managed to sell Admin a remote for something he did not even own. Past the shop started the business area of Yornew. The streets were full with suits running from A to B, from B to C, from C to D and back again in unbelievable haste. Now and then an expensive car passed on the street and some big head or Mafia like person stepped out surrounded by bodyguards.

Admin usually paused his walk in a small diner, where he had breakfast. That day he also stopped there. Gave the blond young waitress a light smile and ordered the usual: A big cup of tea and a cold pizza. It was the first place where he had seen cold pizza on the menu, it made him feel at home.

This paragrah contains exactly 267 words, although it only handles a very single moment in which not much is actually happening. Just the detailed description of the surroundings as percieved by the character, outside influences, thoughts and simple narrative of scenery not only add length to the posting itself, but also add a certain level of depth to be immersed in. Much more so then simple listing of things that happen spot on (Character walks up to NPC. Character asks NPC. Character buys Item from NPC. etcpp.).

Spelling, grammar & style
A post in our RP should be as free from spelling and grammar issues as reasonably possible. The same goes double for complicated and/or bumpy, clumsy structure of sentence, as well as the corrent tense. Postings in-character and applications are usually written in past tense narrative style, which means: text should be written in the way that events have already happened and are being told to someone instead of commentation on presently happening actions or first person narration. (simple example: "He goes over to her." is wrong, "He went over to her." is the desired tense).
Everthing a post contains should be worked into a fluid, coherent text and not a listing of plain events. We are trying to keep away from the "Person says"-(Person thinks)-*Person does* style as best we can.

Access to the Content may not be legal by certain persons or in certain countries. If you access the Website from outside the United States, you do so at your own risk and are responsible for compliance with the laws of your jurisdiction. The provisions of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods will not apply to these Terms. A party may give notice to the other party only in writing at that party's principal place of business, attention of that party's principal legal officer, or at such other address or by such other method as the party shall specify in writing. Notice shall be deemed given upon personal delivery or facsimile, or, if sent by certified mail with postage prepaid, 5 business days after the date of mailing, or, if sent by international overnight courier with postage prepaid, 7 business days after the date of mailing. These Terms set forth the entire understanding and agreement of the parties, and supersedes any and all oral or written agreements or understandings between the parties, as to their subject matter. The waiver of a breach of any provision of this Agreement shall not be construed as a waiver of any other or subsequent breach.
